New platform updates

Inside Tute's platform

What's new and what's next

As your dedicated partner, we’re always looking for ways to make your Tute experience smoother, more intuitive, and more effective. Every update is designed with you in mind, making the platform easier to navigate and more efficient to use.

This page is where you’ll find the latest platform updates and a look at what’s coming next. Many of these improvements come directly from your feedback – refining processes, enhancing visibility, and making sure the platform works with you, not just for you.

Explore the latest updates below to see what’s new and what’s next:

Based on your feedback, we’ve introduced new features to streamline processes, improve visibility, and make managing student learning even smoother.

Mentoring sessions – now in timetables
Mentoring sessions can now be scheduled directly into student timetables, just like any other lesson. These 30-minute sessions provide tailored academic, emotional, or behavioural support, helping students stay engaged and confident in their learning.

  • You can find mentoring sessions in a student’s timetable or profile under the ‘Students’ menu.
  • Reporting will look slightly different – while there are no lesson objectives, teachers will complete targeted session reports.

📷 Take a look at how this appears in the timetable below.

New risk assessment field
To support best practice in online education, we’ve introduced a new risk assessment field when enrolling students.

  • When setting up a new student, you’ll now be asked if a risk assessment has been completed.
  • If ‘No’ is selected, a notification will provide guidance and a template for completion.
  • This won’t stop enrolment, but it ensures a proactive approach to safeguarding.

📷 See how this appears in the enrolment process below.

Easier navigation: new features in student records and timetables
To make managing student information more efficient, we’ve introduced:

  • First and last page links – If you’re managing multiple students, you can now jump straight to the first or last page of student records.
  • Jump to a specific date in a student’s timetable – Simply select a date in the top left corner of the timetable to view their lessons on any given day.

📷 Take a look at these navigation tools in action below.

Partners can now join private programme lessons
Partners with the correct permissions can now join and review lessons in private programmes. Simply open the student’s timetable, select the lesson, and access the recording.

Coming soon
We’re not stopping there! Here’s a look at what’s on the way:

  • Longer cover teacher notifications – Students will have more time to see if a different teacher is covering their lesson before joining.
  • Students can access half-term reports – Making it easier for them to track their own progress.
  • Self-service for shared provision – A quicker, more convenient way to enrol students onto shared curriculums.

Driven by your feedback, our latest updates improve visibility, streamline processes, and enhance tracking – giving you better oversight and making your day-to-day smoother.

Real-time student online status
One of the most requested features is now live! You can now see whether a student is currently online and in a lesson, giving real-time visibility into student engagement. This update is especially useful for partner contacts and attendance teams to monitor student activity more efficiently.

🎥 Watch the video below to see how to access this feature.

Easy timetable screenshots
Need to save or share a student’s timetable quickly? We’ve added a download screenshot button, allowing you to instantly save a copy of their schedule for your records. The file can be used as is or copied into other documents as needed.

🎥 See how to use this feature in the video below.

Enhanced progress tracking
To give you a more detailed picture of student engagement, we’ve added two new fields to the progress tracker:
✔ Webcam usage (for partners with specific arrangements)
✔ Lesson playback access – track whether a student has revisited recorded lessons for revision or catch-up.

📷 Take a look at the updated tracker below.

Coming soon
We’re not stopping there! Here’s a preview of what’s on the way:

  • Longer cover teacher notifications – students will have more time to see if a different teacher is covering their lesson before joining.
  • Students can access half-term reports – making it easier for them to track their own progress.
  • Partners can join their own private lessons – improving oversight and flexibility.
  • Platform filtering improvements – streamlining how you search and organise key information.

Student one page profiles
As part of getting to know your students better, when they log into the platform, they will be prompted to complete a one page profile.  This is a short series of questions that will allow our teachers to get to know the students better in their classes and help to build further positive relations with them.  Teachers are also going to be asked to do this for a similar reason.

Students are prompted to complete this as they log into the platform, and they can complete it fully, or complete it on an ongoing basis.

The video below will show you how you can access the one page profiles that your students have completed

Identifying relationships between students and parent users
It might be that when enrolling a number of students, these might include siblings or students who should not be placed in the same class as one another.  As a partner, you now can let us know about this information through the platform.

This feature will also allow you to see any parental users that are linked with a given student.

The video below will show you how to let us know these different relationships

Downloading programme statistics
As a partner with students across several curriculums, you can now download a file that will capture information for your records.  This can be accessed by clicking on Programmes – Statistics in the left hand menu and then clicking on the green download button on the right of the screen.

General improvements

  • Students are now able to have access to their half term reports if they are on Shared Course curriculums
  • The look of the student area on the platform has been improved to enhance their overall experience
  • Start dates for students are now available for you to access from the student menu

Coming soon

  • The ability for partner users to join lessons live if the lessons are their own privately commissioned lessons
  • A longer lasting message for students when joining a lesson notifying them if there is a different teacher than normal taking the lesson due to staff cover
  • The addition of a status indicator to see if a student or teacher is currently live and active on the platform

Further ahead

  • Finalising how mentoring sessions will look for students on the platform
  • Moving towards the organisation for self service for shared provision
