Welcome to your

Vanessa Leach,
Managing Director, Tute

A message to you, from our MD

A half term to be proud of

This half term’s newsletter brings together a remarkable set of external endorsements for Tute!

From winning Supplier of the Year at the Education Resources Awards, to achieving the Investing in Children Membership Award, to receiving recognition in the Pearson National Teaching Awards, the message is consistent: Tute’s work is trusted, quality assured and making a meaningful difference for students.

These endorsements matter because they reflect the strength of what sits behind every placement: high-quality online education, inclusive practice, strong family and student support, and a culture that listens to learners and acts on what they tell us.

As many GCSE and A level students begin their exams this half term, that focus on support matters more than ever. We wish every student sitting exams the very best of luck and are proud to support them through this important stage.

Thank you to our partners for the continued trust you place in Tute. We remain committed to making sure your students receive provision that is thoughtful, responsive and built around their needs.

With best wishes,
Vanessa

External recognition

Three awards. Three independent conclusions.

Last time, we shared that Tute had been shortlisted for Supplier of the Year at the Education Resource Awards. We are proud to share that we won!

The judges described Tute as “the only organisation that delivers such a comprehensive solution for schools.” They also recognised our family engagement, quality assurance and staff development, noting that our work delivers a “deep, systemic impact rather than surface‑level support.”

That recognition reflects what Tute works to achieve every day: high-quality online education, strong support around each learner, and provision that makes a meaningful difference. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible team, partners, and families. This award reflects your commitment, trust and belief in what online education can achieve.

The way we listen to students, and act on what they tell us, has earned external recognition too.

Following an independent evaluation with our students, Tute has been awarded the Investing in Children Membership Award. The report found that student voice at Tute is “not tokenistic but embedded into organisational practice”, shaping decisions, improving provision and strengthening engagement.

Students described feeling listened to and included, with one saying they “definitely feel heard” and another noting that “changes are actually being made”.

This is a powerful endorsement of a culture where listening leads to action, and where student experience directly shapes what we do next.

And the recognition did not stop there! Tute has received a Certificate of Achievement in the Award for SEND and Inclusive Practice at the 2026 Pearson National Teaching Awards.

With exceptionally strong entries from across the UK, this is a significant achievement and a reflection of the expertise, care, and commitment that shape our approach to inclusive online education.

Our practice is built around a clear priority: putting students at the heart of what we do. That shows in the support provided to learners, families, and partner schools, particularly where needs are complex and consistency matters. This recognition belongs also to our students, whose progress and resilience remind us why this work matters.

GCSE Revision Live

Supporting students the night before their exams

GCSE Revision Live is back for its fourth year, with hundreds of students already joining our free revision sessions the night before their GCSE exams.

Designed to help students feel more prepared, more confident and less overwhelmed, the sessions give students a clear, structured focus the evening before each paper.

We know these sessions can make a real difference to students during exam season, so we’d really appreciate your support in helping more young people access them. We’ve created a downloadable poster that can be shared directly with students and families across your setting.

From NEET to next steps

Tute's partnership with South Gloucestershire's Trailblazers project

This year, Tute partnered with South Gloucestershire on the Trailblazers project, part of the West of England Combined Authority’s Youth Guarantee initiative. The programme supported 18 to 21-year-olds who were not in education, employment, or training to gain Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths, with a clear route into work, apprenticeships, or further study.

Provision was built around the reality of learners’ lives: weekly online sessions scheduled flexibly alongside work placements, diagnostic assessments to ensure every student started at the right level, and remote invigilation so that readiness, not location, determined opportunity.

Eleven learners have so far progressed into employment, apprenticeships, or further training. Functional Skills exam passes were secured across the cohort, with more results pending. 93% of students reported increased confidence and progress, and 100% described online learning as a positive experience.

Programme manager Aimee Hill reflected: “We wouldn’t have been able to get our participants to this point with any other provider. It’s been a fundamental element of the programme.”

The year came to a close at a celebration event at the Bristol Aerospace Museum, where Sharon Smith, Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning (Quality), and Holly Connor, Curriculum Leader in maths, attended on behalf of Tute to present certificates to students.

The programme has since received a second year of national funding due to its success and year two is already underway.

Exam season

Keeping year 11 students supported during the exam period

Year 11 provision with Tute continues throughout the GCSE exam window and beyond, with lessons, structured revision and mentoring support in place during this critical final stage.

Students remain legally required to be in education until 26 June, and continued provision can make a meaningful difference to confidence, preparation and outcomes.

We strongly recommend that Year 11 students remain in provision through to their final exam and, where appropriate, to the end of the academic year. Where alternative arrangements are in place, please let us know so we can align support appropriately.

ESOL summer school provision

Supporting newly arrived learners before September

For newly arrived learners, the summer period does not have to be lost time. Starting English language learning before September means your learners can arrive at their school or college place with a foundation already in place, better equipped to communicate, follow instruction, and settle in from the first week.

Tute’s ESOL summer school provision gives local authorities and educational settings a structured way to support learners between arrival and their September start. With two courses available at pre-entry and Entry Level 1, and fast-track enrolment within 48 hours, provision can begin as soon as a learner is identified.
