A new academic year, new beginnings, and another year of support, connection and learning.
We hope you and your family have had a safe, restful and enjoyable summer.
As we begin a new academic year, we wanted to welcome all our returning families back to Tute and extend a particularly warm welcome to those who are joining us for the first time.
Starting a new school year can bring a mixture of excitement, anticipation and uncertainty for young people and their families. Whether your child is returning to familiar routines or taking their first steps with Tute, we’re here to support you along the way. π
The Family Hub remains your go-to place for support and information throughout the academic year.

We’re delighted to be starting our Virtual Coffee Morning programme again this September.
Building independence and life skills
π
Friday 25 September
β° 10:00am
As children grow, so does their need for independence. This session will explore practical ways to encourage responsibility, decision-making and confidence, while continuing to provide the support and connection young people need.
Our coffee mornings are informal and welcoming, providing an opportunity to listen, share experiences, ask questions and connect with other parents and carers.
Whether you’ve joined us before or this will be your first session, we’d love to see you there. β
More information and joining details can be found on the Family Hub event calendar.
Our first blog of the new academic year will look at an important part of online education: The child behind the screen: Understanding vulnerability in online education and the foundations of safeguarding.
Online learning offers young people flexibility and opportunities to learn in ways that work for them. But behind every screen is a child with their own experiences, needs, strengths and vulnerabilities.
This blog explores what safeguarding can look like within an online learning environment, why understanding the child behind the screen matters, and the foundations that help us create a safe and supportive learning experience.
We’ll be sharing the blog on the Parent & Carer Hub in September.
From 22β26 September, we’ll be recognising Behaviour Awareness Week.
Behaviour is communication, and understanding what may be behind a behaviour can be an important part of supporting young people effectively.
Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing information and resources to help parents and carers think about behaviour through a supportive and inclusive lens, including the importance of relationships, regulation, communication and understanding individual needs.
Keep an eye on the Parent & Carer Hub for updates and resources throughout the week.
October is ADHD Awareness Month, and we’ll be using the opportunity to share information, practical guidance and resources for parents and carers.
We’ll be exploring ADHD, including how it can affect young people’s experiences of learning, relationships, organisation and everyday life, as well as ways families can provide effective support.
Look out for our October content on the Parent & Carer Hub.
We’re also pleased to share that Tute will be applying for the Investing in Children Membership Award again this year.
The award recognises organisations that actively involve children and young people in decisions that affect them and demonstrates a commitment to listening to and acting on their views.
We know that young people are at the heart of everything we do, and their experiences, ideas and feedback are an important part of helping us develop and improve our provision.
We’ll keep you updated on our progress throughout the year.
From September, we’re introducing our new π Parent Insight form.
As a parent or carer, you know your child best. You may have information about their circumstances, needs, strengths, preferences or experiences that you feel would be important for us to know so that we can support them effectively.
The Parent Insight form gives you a simple way to share this information directly with our Inclusion Team. The team will review the information and, where appropriate, share relevant details with members of the wider Tute team who need to know in order to support your child.
You don’t need to wait until there is a problem to use the form. Sometimes a small piece of information or insight from home can help us understand a young person’s needs, recognise when something is different, and provide the right support from the outset.
Complete the form by clicking on this link π Parent Insight Form (this can be completed at any time during your childβs time with us as necessary).
Because you know your child best, your insight matters. π
A new academic year can sometimes mean new questions, new routines and new challenges.
If you’re unsure about something, need some guidance, or simply want to talk something through, please remember that you don’t have to wait until there’s a problem to get in touch.
The Parent Support and Inclusion Team are here to help families navigate the year, working alongside students, parents and carers and our wider Tute teams to support positive engagement, wellbeing and learning.
Ways to contact us:

As we begin another academic year, we’re looking forward to continuing to build a supportive community around our students and families.
There will be new resources, new conversations, more virtual coffee mornings and plenty of opportunities to share ideas and learn from one another.
Whether you’re returning to Tute or just beginning your journey with us, welcome; we’re very glad you’re here. π
From everyone in the Parent Support and Inclusion Team, we wish you and your family a positive start to the new academic year.
Here’s to a year of learning, growth, independence and connection. π±β
Warmest regards,
