Tute is the first online provider to receive the Investing in Children Membership Award!

We are delighted to share that Tute has been awarded the Investing in Children Membership Award, following an independent evaluation with our students, and we are the first online provider to receive it!

This is a significant recognition. Meaningful student voice is difficult to achieve in any education context, and even more so in online provision, where students may have experienced disrupted education, anxiety, SEND, low confidence, or previous barriers to engagement. The report shows that Tute has not only created ways for students to be heard, but has used what they tell us to make real changes to their learning experience.

What the evaluation found

From student voice

to real change

The independent evaluation engaged directly with Tute students across two formal Student Council meetings. The evaluator assessed the breadth and quality of Tute’s approach to student voice, documenting the following areas of evidence.

Student Council - A formal, monthly space where students from across year groups meet with staff to raise concerns, suggest improvements, and share what is working well. Feedback is recorded, followed up through clear action points, and changes are made as a direct result.
One Page Profiles - Introduced after students reported that they wanted teachers to know them as individuals at the start of their learning journey. Profiles capture what matters most to each student, how they prefer to be supported, and what helps them feel safe and ready to learn. Students have also shaped the templates themselves.
Student surveys - Half-termly surveys give all students a regular opportunity to share their views on learning, wellbeing, and inclusion - including those who find verbal or group feedback more challenging. Responses are reviewed systematically and used to inform improvement.
The Student Hub - A platform for students to find support, share views, and contribute ideas. The Hub has been adapted directly in response to student feedback, with language simplified, content streamlined, and navigation improved.
Form Groups - Sessions within consistent, trusted groupings that embed listening and dialogue into regular provision, supporting students who may find whole-group feedback more challenging.
Mentoring - Small group sessions providing a relational route for student voice, allowing students to discuss their experiences and ideas in a safe, manageable environment.

For students - For young people who have experienced disrupted education, anxiety, or previous barriers to engagement, feeling genuinely heard can be transformative. The evaluation found that students at Tute feel ownership over their learning experience - not just recipients of provision, but active contributors to it.
For partners - We know you place students with Tute because they need provision that genuinely meets individual need. This award is independent evidence that Tute's commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and responsiveness is embedded in practice - not just policy. It adds to the assurance partners need when making placement decisions for some of their most vulnerable young people.
