Parent/Carer Safety Alert:
Fake “Celebrity Meet and Greet” websites targeting children

The Education Safeguarding Team has identified a rise in websites claiming to let children meet or chat with celebrities. These sites are not genuine. They are designed to lure children into online spaces where unknown adults can initiate contact.

Why children may be attracted:

  • They promise exclusive access to celebrities or influencers.
  • They appear fun, exciting, or endorsed by public figures.
  • Identities shown are often fake or misrepresented.
  • Sites operate without moderation or age checks.

How parents and carers can help:

  1. Talk to your child
    • Explain that no real celebrity uses random video chat sites to meet fans.
    • Encourage children to speak to a trusted adult if anything online feels wrong.
  2. Supervise online activity
    • Check which sites and apps children use and explore them together.
    • Review parental controls and privacy settings.
  3. Report concerns immediately
    • Follow your organisation’s safeguarding procedures.

Report illegal content or behaviour to CEOP.

Key message:

These imitation “celebrity meet and greet” sites pose serious risks, similar to random video chat platforms like Omegle. They may seem child-friendly but can expose children to grooming and exploitative behaviour. Vigilance, open communication, and active supervision are essential to keeping children safe online.
