Welcome to the first safeguarding newsletter of the new academic year! As we begin another exciting term, we remain committed to keeping our students’ wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
Be part of our Safeguarding Network meeting
We’re excited to invite you to our third Safeguarding Network Meeting, happening on Tuesday, 2 December, from 15:30 to 16:00.
This friendly and collaborative session brings together professionals from a variety of settings to share experiences, reflect on challenges, and exchange good practice in safeguarding. Whether you’re a regular participant or joining us for the first time, we’d love to see you there.

Things to know
Now live – new safeguarding reporting process
We’re pleased to share that our new Safeguarding Reporting Process is now live on the Tute Platform. This new feature is fully integrated into the platform, allowing teachers to raise safeguarding concerns more efficiently and securely.
All partners now have the ability to review, respond to, and monitor all safeguarding concerns in one convenient place.
This improvement will:
Make reporting faster, easier, and more accurate.
Provide a clear log of all submitted concerns, including feedback and partner responses.
Give you greater visibility and ownership through access to a full safeguarding timeline.
We’re confident this update will enhance communication, streamline safeguarding workflows, and ensure every concern is managed effectively.
As part of this process, we require all partners to acknowledge safeguarding reports directly within the Tute platform. Partners should also provide a brief follow-up or response confirming they have received the report and are taking the necessary steps to safeguard the student.
This approach provides greater visibility and ownership, as you will have access to the full safeguarding timeline within the platform.
Enhanced pastoral support
This half term, we’re pleased to welcome Megan to the role of Student Support Associate (SSA). The SSA role is a key part of Tute’s inclusion and wellbeing offer, ensuring every student has the support they need to thrive in our lessons and beyond.
Megan delivers Tute’s mentoring programme, working with students 1:1 or in small groups to build wellbeing, confidence and study skills. She also supports teachers and students in lessons, responds to student messages on the platform, and works closely with our safeguarding and inclusion teams to make sure every learner feels safe, supported and able to reach their potential.
Updated training
All Tute employees have completed their Level 2 Safeguarding training once again, ensuring everyone is fully refreshed and ready for the new academic year.
Safeguarding concerns reported in HT1
During the first half term, mental health concerns have once again emerged as our most frequently reported issue. This mirrors the pattern we observed throughout the previous academic year, where mental health remained the highest area of concern in every half term.
The return to learning after the summer break can often bring added pressures or anxieties for some students, which may contribute to the rise in concerns early in the academic year. At Tute, we recognise how important it is to support our students’ emotional wellbeing, and we continue to invest in ongoing staff training to strengthen this support. This ensures our team is well equipped to identify early signs that a student may be struggling with their mental health and to provide the right help when it’s needed most.
KCSIE 2025 – what’s new
The updated Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 guidance came into effect on 1 September 2025. While described as a technical update, there are several important changes for schools and safeguarding staff to note:
- Online safety: Expanded to include risks such as misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories, with added guidance on AI use, filtering, and monitoring.
- Attendance and alternative provision: Stronger emphasis on attendance as a safeguarding issue, and clearer expectations for safeguarding students in alternative provision.
- Updated terminology: Language changes, including using “autism” instead of “autism spectrum disorder,” to reflect current practice.
- Safer recruitment: Updated links and references for teacher checks and vetting processes.
