How Tute works
Who we are and what we do
Tute is your child’s online education provider, chosen by their school or local authority to deliver high-quality lessons in a flexible and accessible way.
We specialise in supporting students who need an alternative to traditional schooling, helping every child reach their potential through personalised, engaging teaching.
Our qualified teachers deliver live lessons in our safe, purpose-built online classroom. These lessons follow the national curriculum, including GCSEs and A levels, and are designed for children and young people aged 5 to 18 (key stages 1–5).
Types of education packages
We offer flexible learning packages, which we call curriculums, to suit different needs. Your child might use Tute for just a few days, a few months, or even longer.
Within their package, students may attend live, interactive lessons in two ways:
- Group lessons: Your child learns with a small group of other students, either from across the country or their own school or setting. These sessions encourage teamwork and shared learning experiences.
- One-to-one lessons: Personalised lessons focused entirely on your child’s specific needs, helping them build confidence and achieve their goals.
The type of package and delivery method has been carefully chosen by your child’s school or LA to suit their needs.
Who we teach
Tute supports thousands of students who face challenges in traditional school settings, including:
- Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Social, emotional, or mental health challenges
- Emotionally based school avoidance
- Permanent exclusion or suspension
- Other situations that affect mainstream education
We work closely with your child’s school or LA to provide the best possible learning experience.
How it works
- Your child’s school or LA arranges a learning package (curriculum) with Tute.
- We create an account for your child, and you’ll receive login details, via email.
- Your child logs into the Tute platform and accesses their Learning Portal, which includes:
• Timetable: Lessons scheduled specifically for your child
• Scheme of learning: A breakdown of lesson content
• Progress and engagement: Teacher assessments after every lesson
• Attendance records: Information captured in every lesson
• View lesson recordings: Great for revision or catching up after absence
• Private messaging: A way for your child to communicate with their teacher - At the scheduled lesson time, your child clicks on their timetable to join The Learning Cloud (Tute’s online classroom).
- In some curriculums, your child may also use their Learning Base for homework, assignments, or extra support.
Some schools or LAs may set up a parent account for you, allowing you to access your own Learning Portal to view:
- Your child’s timetable
- Scheme of learning
- Progress and engagement reports
- Attendance records

What to expect from lessons
At the start of every lesson, we set clear expectations for both our teachers and students. This helps create a safe, respectful, and engaging environment where your child can learn and thrive. Here’s what you can expect:
What Tute teachers will do
Our teachers are committed to supporting your child’s education by:
- Delivering lessons designed to help your child make progress and build confidence
- Arriving early to greet students as they log in, creating a welcoming environment
- Ensuring students understand expected behaviour during lessons
- Addressing any disrespectful behaviour immediately to maintain a positive space
- Sharing progress and engagement updates with the school or local authority after every lesson
What we expect from your child
To get the most out of their lessons, we encourage your child to:
- Attend all lessons
- Log in on time for all lessons and stay until the end
- Engage by answering questions and listening
- Complete all work set by their teacher to the best of their ability
- Treat everyone in the online classroom with respect
- Speak up if they need additional support during or after the lesson
- Always try their best, no matter the challenge
Our team
At Tute, we are passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Every member of our team is committed to helping your child succeed. They live and breathe our vision to create an education system where any child, anywhere, can achieve their potential.
Some roles are focused on directly supporting students, parents, and carers, ensuring everyone involved feels confident and informed. These include:
- Hollie – Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning: Inclusion and SEND
Hollie ensures all students, particularly those with SEND, are supported to thrive. She works with teachers, schools, and LAs to make lessons inclusive and accessible, empowering every child to achieve their potential. - Natalie – Parent Support Associate
Natalie helps parents and carers feel informed and supported. She organises resources and guides you on how to help your child get the most out of Tute. While she can’t change the provision arranged by your child’s school or LA, she’s here to help you navigate the platform and support your child’s learning. - Lauren – Student Support Associate
Lauren works directly with students to ensure they feel confident and supported in their learning. She helps students stay engaged, celebrate achievements, and overcome challenges so they can succeed.
